Summer is when I usually take a hiatus from knitting. It just seems like a cold weather activity and we have been anything but cold here! It looks like we are in for a reprieve and I couldn’t be happier.
Last winter when 3 of my friends had babies, there was a project that I couldn’t post because of the baby’s mom possibly finding out. At last, I can finally post pictures, not only of the project but the baby modeling it, and in her 6 month professional pictures!! Here is Kailyn wearing Katja, a great pattern, and made with Lion Brand Cotton-Ease.

Isn’t she adorable?? That beautiful hat is from Guatemala and looks like it might be crocheted.
Thank you to Alissa and Reed Photography for sharing these lovely pictures with me so I could share them with all of you!

Davy has liked the hats I have made him but said that they got “itchy” when he got a little sweaty. My solution: a cotton blend hat. This is the Seaman’s Cap knit with Lion Brand Cotton Ease. This is really the only cotton yarn that I can knit with for any length of time without my wrists complaining. It has enough acrylic in it to make it have a little give.

Doesn’t he look happy?
I started a project last night at work. Working nights has some advantages and one is that when the patients are sleeping, everything is stocked and you’ve done all your continuing education, there is nothing left to do except knit. (right?) Davy said that I needed to knit myself a beret so I looked through all the Ravelry patterns and found one that looked interesting.  This is the Star Crossed Sloucy Beret knit with some stash yarn – Bernat Softee Chunky. I should be done with this in the next couple days but here is the work in progress.

The bonus about those pictures is that is shows off my Knit Picks Harmony Options Interchangeable needles. I love these needles so much. It is such a great way to have a good assortment of needles available and they are pointy, slick and the joins where the cable meets the needle is very smooth. I love these needles!
I have another finished object but I can’t share it with you until the recipient receives it. Just know that it is very cute!!

I finished a baby sweater for Jenna, Bonnie’s baby. Bonnie is my friend. She and I used to work together doing First Steps. Here is Jenna wearing the sweater. The pattern is the 5 hour baby sweater (it takes longer than 5 hours) and the yarn is Caron Simply Soft. This is my go-to acrylic yarn. Bonnie loves the sweater and I’m glad I didn’t wait any longer to give it to her since it looks like it fits right now.

The second finished object is a hat that I knit for Isaac, my friend and co-worker, Carla’s son. She mentioned that he loves to wear beanies so I knit him this cabled hat. The pattern is Snappy Hat knit with Caron Simply Soft in Black. Isaac looks so handsome in it and he tells me that he wears it to school every day.

I want to knit this hat for myself in a cream, bulky yarn.
Thanks Bonnie and Carla for taking the pictures and sharing them with me.
I’ve got another baby item on my needles but can’t share it here yet.
